Must Have Mascaras!

Hello Everyone!

If there is one thing I love to try, it's definitely mascara! I get so excited when I open a new tube! What I look for in a mascara is most importantly volume. It is also important to me that it doesn't flake or smudge, and a bit more definition, curl and length never hurt anyone, right? So what if I have high expectations? I might not always know what I want in life, but when it comes to mascara, there is most definitely a check list!

I have decided to share with you the mascaras that I am currently loving and using! Some days I wear them on their own, sometimes I like to layer them. I also have been known to wear false lashes more often than not, but I still like a beautiful base to set them onto. Sometimes I like to re-apply my mascara before going somewhere, just to intensify my lashes a bit.

The following mascaras have left me checking lots of boxes on my list, as they all layer nicely, wear well throughout the day, and make my lashes ever so pretty! I should probably add that though my lashes aren't extremely long, they are rather full. I consider them good-average lashes. No complaints, but always room for improvement!

Dior Addict It-Lash
I have to start by saying that I am absolutely obsessed with this mascara! I hadn't given Dior mascaras any consideration for a long time, but then I was introduced to It-Lash and was simply blown away. This mascara delivers the same amount of volume as the famous Diorshow, however is way more buildable! It applies so luxuriously, its synthetic brush grabbing and beautifully coating each lash! The formula is creamy but not too wet, and if you wiggle it just a bit the whole way from root to tip on your second and third coats, you will notice it makes your lashes look so full and fluffy! Honestly this is magic and I love it! It is a dark black colour, is long wearing and lightweight, doesn't smudge or flake, and is easy to remove! Definitely worth the $32CAD pricetag!

Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash
I really do love most of the Marc Jacobs Beauty products, and his new stuff is just fabulous! MJB recently launched the O!Mega Lash, a blacker than black mascara that promises to be deliciously thick and luxurious to give you high-drama lashes. This mascara delivers in every. single. way. It does it all, but I am extremely impressed on how well this really thickens and volumizes my lashes with so little effort! Seriously big lashes with no clumping! The brush looks basic, but is an intricate weave of two different brushes and it is anything but ordinary, and just a really good, non-scary brush. I am also absolutely smitten with the ingredients in this bad boy! Plenty of plant extracts, essential oils, vitamins B5 and C all to improve the health of your lashes and make them even more beatiful! At $33CAD, this is a splurge, but again I feel it's just so good that it's worth it!

Buxom Mascara
This is a mascara that I honestly was not overly excited about when I first got it. I decided to go ahead and use it, and I was very pleasantly surprised! The brush is a little bit intimidating. At first glance I felt it was just going to lightly coat my lashes and just give subtle definition, nothing special. I was so wrong! Although the Buxom mascara is definitely not nearly as dramatic as the other two mascaras, it still gives a pretty amount of volume to my lashes. I reach for it on days where I want a more natural look, with a more subtle amount of volume and fullness. The bristles are actually firm enough so that my lashes don't clump together and stay nicely seperated. I like this as a simple day off or no makeup makeup look staple. The pricetag is a bit friendlier than I have mentioned so far, you can get this for $24CAD.

Alright so that's it for the mascaras that I am using right now! I honestly try to not have too many tubes on the go, but with so many good mascaras out there to try, what else is a girl to do?

What mascara(s) are you using right now? What are some of your favourites? I have a few other good mascaras tucked away awaiting their turn, so look forward to seeing more posts like this in the future!

GlamGlow PowerMud Review

Hello Beauties!

Alright, so who here doesn't like themselves a good face mask? Personally, I can't get enough of them! I like to have a special routine for face masks. I will usually use a deep cleansing or clearing mask once a week (Wednesdays), a brightening mask on Fridays to have nice fresh skin for the weekend, and then usually a deep hydration or detox mask on Sunday evenings to apologize to my skin for any over-indulgences that may have occurred over said weekend.

Now I know that might be a bit much for some people, but my skin has been doing exceptionally well lately and I would like to think that this mask routine has played a part in this.

The mask that I have been most excited about using lately has been the new GlamGlow PowerMud Dualcleanse Treatment. It is a mud to oil mask that claims to be powerfully gentle, while it cleanses, nourishes, detoxifies, renews and purifies the skin. Those are some serious claims! I do absolutely love the SuperMud and ThirstyMud masks from GlamGlow, and so I had high hopes for this one too!

It has a light gray colour, a slightly runny consistency with little exfoliating granules of clay in it, and smells like green apples! It isn't the most beautiful scent for a mask (their best smelling mask is definitely ThirstyMud... can you say summer in a jar?!), but it's not unpleasant either.

An interesting feature about this mask is the application of it. After removing makeup and cleansing your face, you need to dry it completely before applying a thin layer of the PowerMud mask. Wetting the clay will activate the oil, and you will not be able to reap all the benefits this mask has to offer. Once the mask is on, leave it on for anywhere between 15-20 minutes, then wet your fingers and begin to massage the mask. It turns to a lovely oil that does not feel too rich at all, and the pieces of clay in it paired with the circular motions of your fingers gently exfoliates your skin. After massaging the oil around your face for about a minute, just rinse it off!

After using this mask for a few weeks now (often more than once a week), I can definitely see and feel a difference in the overall quality of my skin! Immediately after using it, my face feels so soft, and my pores feel squeaky clean and like they can breathe! I also feel like my skin absorbs my night time skincare much better, and I wake up with a nice healthy glow! What's more is that although this is a deep cleaning and detoxifying mask, it never leaves my skin feeling tight, but always refreshed!

Another thing I love about the GlamGlow PowerMud is the ingredients. Seriously, take a look at that list! There's alot of stuff in this, but it's all with a solid purpose, and it's paraben free too! There are many oils, such as pine oil, frankincense oil, and myrrh oil, along with four different types of clay, and lots of vitamins! Combined, these ingredients will: nourish, cleanse, purify, restore, tone, renew, condition, regulate excess shine, smooth texture, improve colour tone, and regenerate. What more could you want?? You can (and definitely should) try this for yourself by visiting Sephora!

I am love, love, loving this mask! Have you tried this? Do you indulge in a mask routine? What's your favorite mask from GlamGlow? Or just your favorite mask overall? I'm always curious to try new things so please let me know!

Dior Addict Fluid Stick Review

Hello Beauties!

Today I want to share with you one of my newest loves in the lips department! I recently got the new Dior Addict Fluid Stick, and I must say, these are fabulous! I've tried on several different colours, and ended up getting #754 "Pandore".

Let's start with the packaging. Seeing as it's Dior, the packaging is ultra luxe-looking, and features the iconic shape many of their other lipsticks and glosses have. It's heavy and does not feel cheap, which is nice, as so many brands with higher price points have super cheap feeling packaging. With these, this is definitely not the case. I really love that you can see the colour of the fluid through the tube, and that it is presented in the shape of a lipstick. I'm a sucker for good packaging, in case you couldn't tell!

Moving on to the colour! Pandore is a beautiful, rich and vibrant pinkish red, which will look beautiful on pretty much any skin tone! It's very bright, ultra-pigmented, and is ultimately the perfect pop of colour for summer! On the other hand, I can see it working well all year round, as it adds a fun burst of colour to any neutral makeup look!

Finally let's shine a bit of light on the formula, shall we? I will describe the Dior Addict Fluid Stick as a hybrid between a gloss and a lipstick, as it boasts a high shine along with richly pigmented colour. It glides on quickly and beautifully with the help of the spongy and slightly wider than average doe-foot applicator. While it does feel a little bit tacky at first, give it a minute or two and it will just fuse itself to your lips, providing comfort, moisture, and longevity. It actually is quite long lasting, though definitely not drying! It's win-win! I also am totally in love with how this feels on my lips! I will add that although so far I haven't really felt like it would bleed and feather outside of the lips, I wear it with a clear lip liner, just in case!

The final verdict? The Dior Addict Fluid Sticks are absolutely amazing. Everything from the packaging, to the colours available (15 in total at Sephora!), to the texture and formula of these is fabulous! I will definitely be picking up some more of these, and I highly recommend that you check them out! If you love a luxurious lip product and feel like treating yourself (go on, you deserve it!), these are definitely for you!

Have you tried these yet? What do you think of them? And what are your favorite colours? I'd love to know!!

Spring Candle Lineup

"It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."
Eleanor Roosevelt

Who doesn't love to light a candle? There is something so calming about the small flame flickering, something so soothing about a subtle pleasant aroma filling the air... I love candles. I love burning them, I love displaying them all over, and I love buying them!! As the seasons change, I also like to change my candles for some that better reflect the season!

Here are the candles I have acquired recently that will be burning on and off as we skip on ahead into spring!

Bath & Body Works "Paris Dreams" has a light fresh floral scent that is subtle and crisp. This one is in my entrance and when the lid is off, it doesn't even need to be lit to be noticeable as soon as you walk in!

Bath & Body Works "Gelato" is one of my favorite scents recently! I have bought this several times before as its delicate sweetness is addicting!!

Dyptique "Baies" smells clean and sophisticated, and definitely shares it's pretty smell with the air all around my living room!

Bath & Body Works "Tiki Beach" smells like coconuts and fresh air! I love this scent and it really lifts my mood! I have it in my dining area and will be lighting it on a very regular basis as it gets me excited for warmer weather that is [hopefully] right around the corner!

Do you love candles too? What are some of your favorites? Favorite brands? Smells? I would love to know!!

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

I have never had a problem with extremely dry lips until about January of this year. Luckily they do not become chapped or cracked. Instead they feel really tight and dehydrated, and have been slightly flaky along the center of the bottom lip. To fix this, I have been trying lip balm after lip treatment, after lip balm after lip treatment. You get what I'm saying? The products I have tried will either not work at all, or only work for a couple of days, and this being only when applied excessively. I am not down with that and so my search continued...

Enter the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask!

The texture of this lip mask is quite thick, almost like vaseline, however it feels very comfortable on my lips! This really soothes and softens my dry, hurting lips! I apply a thick layer of this lip mask every night before bed, but I also use it as a lip balm during the day using a bit less. It stays on for a long time and doesn't feel sticky at all. It gives my lips a nice healthy shine, making a gloss completely optional.

After using a sample for over a week and falling completely in love with it, I decided to head on over to Sephora and purchase it! I am so happy I did! The packaging is convenient as it comes in a small tube rather than a pot I would have to stick my fingers in. The tube is a bit hard to squeeze though, and you have to be careful so that more product than you need (which is very little, by the way!!) doesn't come out, but I am okay with that because it's just that good!

What's also pretty amazing is that this is 99% natural! It is made with organic agave and vanilla co² extracts, among many other wonderful ingredients. Many of the ingredients in this are certified organic, others are completely natural, and of FOOD GRADE. Yes. This is actually good enough to eat!

Another interesting thing about the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is that it contains enough antioxidant-rich reservatrol which delivers the equivalent fo 15 glasses of red wine. Love it!!!

Have you tried the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask or any of their other absolutely fabulous products? What are your thoughts?  I would love to know!!!

Current Hair Faves

"If your hair is done properly and you have on good shoes,
you can get away with anything."
Iris Apfel

I couldn't agree more with the above statement, spoken by fashion icon Iris Apfel, however good hair is much easier said than done. I think you couldn't agree more with me on that one!

My hair is very long, and I colour it regularly, as well as use hot tools, so keeping it healthy and looking its best is absolutely necessary! Its texture is pretty normal but I have a lot, and it is relatively straight. Luckily I can get away with not always having to do too much in terms of styling it, so long of course, as I have the right kind of products in my arsenal! I decided to share some with you today, by doing a mini-review on each.

Oribe Dry Texture Spray and Oribe Dry Conditioner
The Dry Texture spray is an incredible dry shampoo! It builds volume like crazy, and sprays clear so it is ideal for any hair colour! I use this all the time and have a travel size in my bag! The Dry Conditioner spray helps me maintain smooth ends between shampoos and smells nice, too!

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray
This gives me subtle waves when I spray it in damp hair, and when I spray it in after I'm done curling my hair, it helps give them subtle texture and definition. It doesn't weigh my hair down or feel crunchy like many salt sprays have in the past!

Organix Brazilian Keratin Treatment Flat Iron Spray
This stuff smells so good! It also does a good job at keeping my hair smooth, silky and shiny when I straighten it!

Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil
I am absolutely in love with this stuff!! It adds a bit of shine, however what is most noticeable is the fact that it makes my hair look SO healthy! I use it when my hair is damp as well as when it's dry. It definitely smooths the ends nicely, adding no weight. This makes it perfect to work through my whole hair, and to use as a serum when my hair is dry is so convenient as it doesn't make it look oily. A little goes a very long way, one or two pumps is usually what I use.

Oribe Royal Blow Dry
I spray this all over damp hair before blow drying, and it makes a huge difference in how smooth my hair is when I'm done, even before I style it! It helps prevent flyaways and shortens the drying time, which is a major plus!

Oribe Superfine Strong Hold Hair Spray
Because my hair is so long, when I curl it the curls or waves don't last very well through the day, but all of that changed when I switched to this hairspray as per the recommendation of one of my girlfriends! It's so weightless and yet offers such a strong hold! A little goes a long way so that makes me quite happy!

Whew! That's quite a lot of different products! I don't use all of them on a daily basis obviously, but if you are looking to change up your roster of hair care products, I highly recommend any of these!!

Do you use or have you tried any of these products? I'd love to hear what you think of them!! Also if you decide to try any of these, do tell!! =)

February Favourites!

Finally! I actually remembered to get this post written in time for it to still be relevant! I love reading favourites posts, and the start of March, though it may not be Spring yet, is the marker for a February Favourites post of my own!

In order to be able to try to get good use out of all the makeup I own, I have to switch up what I use on a regular basis. However, each day I find myself reaching for some of the same products, over and over again. These products have made it onto my list this month! Enjoy!

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum
This wonderful eye serum has saved my life this month! I developed a small patch of dry skin under my left eye (SO annoying, and I'm attributing it to stress, as well) that NOTHING seemed to help soothe and repair. Trust me when I say nothing - I've tried La Mer, La Prairie, Sisley, Kiehl's, Chanel, Jurlique, even plain ol' coconut oil (which only made me wake up with the puffiest eyes ever!!), and none of it worked!! As a desperate last attempt before actually considering a cortisone cream, I was given several sample sachets of the E.L.A.N.R. Eye Serum. After just two days of pairing it with my La Mer Eye Balm Intense, the dryness was slowly going away! After this, I purchased a full size bottle, and have been using it morning and night ever since!

Chanel Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care
This winter has been dragging on for over 4 months, over 122 days!!! And it's been a cold, rough one to say the least. My lips were doing a good job and requiring minimal basic hydrating care from me, up until the middle of January. From then on they gave up their fight with the elements and needed some extra TLC. Chanel came to the rescue with their newly reformulated lip balm, Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care. It is infused with the ultra hydrating and moisture-replenishing Camelia Flower Oil, which has made my lips baby soft, plumped, soothed and nicely hydrated again. Major thumbs up for this improvement on what was already a good lip balm (The Hydramax + Active Nutrition Lip Care). I have been using this multiple times a day, and before bed, every single day.

Body Shop Shea Body Butter
I have raved about this amazing body butter before, and I am going to do it again! This is a savior for dry skin in the winter! I slather this on my whole body every day right after showering for skin that is deeply moisturized all day, with an incredibly subtle, but lovely nutty scent. I keep repurchasing this over and over again in the large tub!

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
I purchased this out of curiosity. It had been around for a while, and I only ever heard good things about it. I have been using it morning and night for over a month now, before my moisturizer. It doesn't make my skin oily at all, and I find it helps my moisturizer really sink in and be more effective. I rub excess onto my cuticles too, to keep them nice and soft.

Darphin Hydraskin Serum
I'm pretty sure I've talked about this serum on my blog before. This is hands-down, without a doubt, my all time favorite Holy Grail hydrating serum. This stuff just works! It is quite watery, yet very concentrated so a little goes a long way, and it is just like 10 drinks of water for your face. Darphin uses all plant based ingredients in their products, so this is a product I also feel good about using on my face.

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre 92 Impulsion
I love the formula of these creamy gel shadows. This particular colour, a pretty, light pink, was released as part of the Chanel Spring 2014 Collection. I have been using this alot lately, in several different ways - it's very versatile! I've used it as an all over wash of soft sparkly pink sheer colour, for an easy, fool-proof fun day look, or just dabbed at the center of the lid on top of other eyeshadows to give an eye-widening effect, or in the inner corners for a touch of glam!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Creme Compact
When I got this, I never thought I would come to love it as much as I do! I use this very often, in place of foundation on days where I just want something light and don't need/want to wear much makeup. It provides a sheer coverage that is so healthy looking and fresh.

Bath & Body Works Cosmetic Bag
I love the bright colour of this clutch-like makeup bag! It caught my eye one day when I was buying candles, and I just had to go back and get it! It says "Look On the Bright Side" in small good letters at the top, which I think that paired with the pink bow on the zipper, looks very Kade Spade, and well it makes me smile. :) I can also fit lots of things inside of it, so it's been very handy!

Reading this over, I notice a trend... This month I have been all about hydration!! Winter is [hopefully] almost over, but in the mean time it's so important to treat your skin right and make sure to moisturize! I highly recommend any and all of the products I have just mentioned, especially if your skin is in need of some hydra-TLC!

Have you tried any of these? Will you? I'd love to know what your favourite products are right now too!!
